We know that walking into a new group for the first time can feel a little daunting, especially in those early days of parenthood.
Please know that you're not alone in feeling that way. Many of the parents who come through our doors tell us they were nervous before their first visit. Within minutes, those nerves usually disappear.
At Bassett Breasties, there are no expectations and no pressure. Just a warm welcome, friendly faces and a safe space to be yourself.
Whether you're looking for breastfeeding support, reassurance, a friendly chat, or simply somewhere to spend an afternoon with people who understand, we'd love to welcome you.
When you arrive at The Croft, you'll be greeted by Sophia, founder of Bassett Breasties and an Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) Peer Supporter.
There's no formal check-in or registration.
Simply come in, make yourself comfortable and settle in at your own pace.
You can grab a tea, coffee or cold drink, find a comfy seat and take a moment to breathe.
Whether your baby is asleep, feeding, crying or wide awake, they're welcome exactly as they are.
Life with babies is wonderfully unpredictable!
Please don't worry if you arrive after 1pm. We are a drop-in session. However, we do ask if you're looking for feeding support to please arrive by 2.30pm to allow appropriate time with Sophia.
Many families come and go throughout the afternoon, so just arrive whenever works for you.
Not at all.
Some parents stay for ten minutes, while others enjoy spending the full two hours with us.
You're welcome to stay for as little or as long as you'd like.
Absolutely not.
Parents feed their babies in all sorts of ways throughout the session.
Whether you're breastfeeding directly, expressing, combination feeding, bottle feeding expressed milk, using nipple shields or simply cuddling your baby, you'll be in a supportive, judgement-free environment.
If you'd like breastfeeding support, Sophia is available for one-to-one conversations whenever you need her, and if you'd prefer to gain 1-2-1 support privately just let Sophia know and we can find a suitable space.
Of course.
Partners, grandparents, family members and friends are all welcome.
Sometimes having a familiar face beside you can make attending feel much easier.
Yes!
We know that during school holidays and on inset days, childcare isn't always possible.
Older brothers and sisters are very welcome.
We have a small play area inside, along with an enclosed garden where children can safely play while you enjoy a chat and some support.
That's completely normal.
Babies cry.
Babies feed.
Babies sleep.
Babies need changing.
You'll never need to apologise for your baby simply being a baby.
Everyone in the room understands.
Bassett Breasties is for anyone who is:
Whether your baby is a few days old or a busy toddler, you'll receive the same warm welcome.
Some parents come because feeding feels difficult.
Others come because everything is going well and they'd simply like some company.
Many parents return again and again because they've found friendships and a supportive community.
Whatever brings you through our door, we're glad you're here.
Bassett Breasties was created because every family deserves somewhere local, welcoming and supportive to turn during one of the biggest transitions of their lives.
We hope you'll feel at home from the moment you walk through the door.
The kettle is always on, there's no need to book, and we'd love to meet you.
